Pre-admission Testing

A Pre-admission Testing appointment will be required for all orthopedic surgeries. It is preferred for you to have all your Pre-admission testing done at our location, but understand that due to time constraints and distance, that this may not always be possible. If that is the case, we will ask that you get your testing done through your Primary Care Provider, and we will follow up to gather all required records, and a health history call.

For all ENT, Eye, Pain, General and Gyn procedures, we will obtain the required records from your scheduled provider and call you to go over your health history (which includes all medications, allergies, & medical and surgical history).

At your Pre-Admission Testing (P.A.T.) appointment, our staff will collect essential information about your medical and surgical history and go over the important instructions on how to prepare for your upcoming surgery/procedure. Our objective is to provide you with a safe surgery, with no difficulties and surprises.

Once we receive your packet from the surgeon's office, our P.A.T.  scheduler will call to schedule your P.A.T. appointment that needs to be done within 28 days of our surgery date. During this call, we will ask you a series of questions to determine if you will also need to be scheduled for a cardiac clearance appointment. This appointment will be required in addition to your P.A.T. appointment, and must be done through a Board-certified cardiologist, not a Primary care provider.

We will ask for the following important information at your P.A.T. appointment:

  • Current medication list: vitamins, supplements, prescription
  • Primary care physician, Cardiologist, Pulmonologist, Hematologist, Pain Management, & any other providers you see routinely
  • List of allergies, past medical history & prior surgeries/procedures requiring anesthesia

It is important to note that we do NOT use the same electronic medical record system as Rothman.

Please bring to your P.A.T. visit:

  • Insurance card
  • Driver's license or government-issued photo identification
  • List of current medications: Name and Dosage
  • Social security number (no need to bring the physical card)

Your appointment will take any where between 60-90 minutes, and in addition to a thorough health history with our Nurse, it will include:

  • Vital signs – Height & weight; blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate & temperature
  • We may or may not perform an EKG – please do not use lotion or powder on the day of your appointment.
  • Blood work may or may not be required
  • History and Physical with one of our Nurse Practitioners

You do NOT need to fast for our lab work, and we encourage you to be hydrated before you arrive. We will NOT require a urine sample.

Our Nurse Practitioner may request consultation with a member of our anesthesia team to evaluate your airway, depending on your medical history and/or BMI.

If you are established with a cardiologist; have seen a cardiologist or have had cardiac testing ordered within the past 5 years, we will require you to get a cardiac clearance. All cardiology visits and EKG must be done within 6 months of your surgery date.

No fees will be charged at time of appointment.
